CBEY Welcomes Three New Staff Members!

CBEY has been busy this summer!  Our office space has been reworked for a return to the new normal. We have enhanced and adjusted programs based on the past year and a half of learnings. And we have welcomed three new staff members to the CBEY team.

Urvi Talaty (MEM ’21) joins CBEY as our new Environmental Innovation Fellow. In this role, Talaty will continue to support a growing green innovator community, advise students working on sustainable ventures, and engage with alumni entrepreneurs who continue to build the businesses they started at Yale.

Developing new programming that includes and highlights missing voices in innovation is a key focus area for Talaty.  “Representation matters, and it’s important for all students at Yale and beyond to see people who look like them being represented in fields such as entrepreneurship and innovation,” says Talaty. She also wants to create ways for students to explore global innovation.

Talaty’s not new to Yale–she recently graduated with a Master’s in Environmental Management–and she plans to bring all of her experience to bear in her new role. “I’m excited about this role since it will not only rely on the expertise I’ve developed through my experience at Yale, but also create new opportunities for students and the larger New Haven community," says Talaty.

Two new members of the CBEY team will focus on clean energy, a key area of impact for the center.

Julia Nojeim (MEM ’21) is CBEY’s Clean Energy Coordinator, a new position for the center. Nojeim will lead an effort to create a community across Yale’s clean energy initiatives. This shared forum will seek to facilitate the exchange of ideas and connections through a collaboratively governed and decentralized network of Yale programs in the clean energy space. “By bringing people engaged in clean energy together, students, faculty, and staff can make the most of their time at Yale,” says Nojeim. “Ideally, raising awareness will serve to expand interdisciplinary research, create collaborative events, and heighten recognition of Yale’s impressive pursuits in clean energy.”

As a recent Yale alum with a Master’s in Environmental Management, Nojeim is ready to build on the passion that inspired her during her time as a student. “I’m excited to continue interacting with this unparalleled spirit of making the world a better place and expanding it through my role.”

Trent Cummings has recently joined CBEY as an Online Programs Delivery Associate. In this role, Cummings will create and promote a rewarding and enriching experience for a diverse group of professionals participating in our Financing and Deploying Clean Energy certificate program (FDCE).

“It’s always been clear to me that FDCE's participants are highly motivated individuals who come to us ready to be challenged by a well-constructed program,” says Cummings. “However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by their enthusiasm for creating a true sense of community, both through the FDCE Community Platform and through their engagement in our sessions. I’m looking forward to seeing those bonds grow stronger as the program continues!”

We are incredibly excited to welcome these three new members of our team and look forward to sharing more about their work in the coming year.

Feel free to drop them a line and say hello!
