Independent Studies

CBEY sponsors several independent studies each year to allow students to dig deep into an area of interest.

Fall 2023 Group Independent Study Opportunities

CT Innovations

Climate Risk and Intelligence with Connecticut Innovations

The Yale Center for Business and Environment has partnered with Connecticut Innovations to offer an independent study for students interested in exploring innovative solutions to address climate change.  Student teams will work with the CI’s ClimateTech Fund Investment Team to develop an investment thesis on Climate Risk Modelling and Analysis. The workload on these is equivalent to a full-credit semester-long course: 3 credits YSE/4 units SOM. The independent study will comprise 3-4 students in the team.

Regenerative Agriculture Lab

This clinical independent study at CBEY supports a just and thriving agricultural community and food system for both people and the planet. You will engage with deeply challenging questions facing agricultural communities and producer-consumer networks today, encouraged by the prospect that regenerative approaches may hold the promise of reversing long-standing patterns of social, economic, and ecological exploitation.
