Clean and Equitable Energy Development Certificate Program

Yale's Clean and Equitable Energy Development (CEED) Certificate Program is an online certificate program that equips participants to develop and evaluate clean energy projects that deliver tangible financial, social, and environmental benefits to local communities.

Participants will explore how developers scope, design, and develop clean energy projects while evaluating the justice principles and opportunities involved from the earliest stages of planning. This practical approach ensures that clean energy projects, or the policies that support them, will promote long-term community resilience and economic empowerment.

The program focuses on building a network of professionals who recognize the complex relationship between clean energy development, social equity, and the uneven impacts of climate change. Together, we’re growing the capacity for clean energy initiatives to prioritize community benefits and realize the opportunities of a just energy transition.

Who should apply to CEED?

Working professionals, developers, and policymakers seeking to deepen their expertise in clean energy development and enhance their understanding of energy justice principles.

Local leaders, advocates, and engaged community members motivated to transform energy systems, gain a deeper understanding of the development process, and learn how to bring the positive impacts of clean energy to their communities.

What can I expect to learn from CEED?

Participants will be able to recognize and confront energy injustice, design and evaluate clean energy projects, promote policies for the just energy transition, and advocate on behalf of vulnerable communities. In order to fully leverage the program opportunity, we suggest joining us with a real or imagined clean energy project you’d like to evaluate or develop.
