Fairuz Loutfi

Fairuz is currently Energy Efficiency Manager at WRI Mexico. She is responsible for coordinating activities of the Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) of the UN's SEforALL global Initiative, developing energy efficiency projects and studies and responsible for the circular economy and plastic waste management line of work.

Fairuz served as Technical Advisor in the Sustainable Energy Program of GIZ in Mexico and was a Lecturer at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. In 2018, she was selected as a global talent for the UNLEASH Innovation Lab for the SDGs in Singapore.

Fairuz graduated in 2016 with a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment (YSE, former F&ES) with the specialization in Energy and the Environment. During her time at Yale she was co-leader of the Yale Extractive Industries Working Group (XWG) and member of the Energy Student Interest Group. In the summer of 2015, she identified energy-saving opportunities at Legrand North America’s (LNA) manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico as an EDF Climate Corps Fellow.

Before coming to Yale, she worked for four years as Advisor to the Undersecretary of Electricity at the Secretary of Energy in Mexico. Fairuz graduated with honors from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City with a B.A. in Mechatronics and Production Engineering. In her free time, she enjoys acting in musical comedies.
