Shuya Wang is a Master of Environmental Management candidate at Yale School of the Environment. Her passion lies in the circular economy, and renewable energy project finance, utilizing financial strategies and environmental techniques to help build a sustainable future. She improved her circular economy knowledge in the Industrial Ecology and Life Cycle Assessment class. The in-class project I joined is to address the food waste problem using Industrial Ecology tools, like Material flow analysis, life-cycle analysis, and Environmental Input-output analysis for Connecticut’s food reduction. We used the Connecticut Food Waste Residual map and data collected to calculate which sector is the largest food waste generator in CT and the primary pathways.
