Shayna Moss
Shayna Moss is a Master of Environmental Science candidate at Yale’s School of the Environment. She believes access to land (and decisions about its use) is a fundamental human right. Her current research focuses on models of collective land ownership and land reform.
Before coming to Yale, Shayna worked in San Francisco and helped coordinate one of the nation's largest farmer's market food-stamp redemption programs. While in the Bay Area, she also worked as an outdoor educator, a pantry coordinator, and a farmer.
Shayna holds a B.S. in Horticulture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she had the opportunity to work with local farmers through participatory plant breeding projects. After seeing the scale of food waste from agricultural research stations, grocery stores, and restaurants, Shayna directed the Campus Food Shed, a food recovery organization that redistributed thousands of pounds of free food to students through daily stocked refrigerators.
Outside of school, Shayna enjoys dunking in natural bodies of water, card games, and soup.
