About Indigenized Energy Initiative:

The Indigenized Energy Initiative is a Native-led non-profit organization that is indigenizing — decolonizing — renewable energy in the US by addressing the social, economic, spiritual, and environmental concerns of Native peoples, in pursuit of a healthy planet, energy independence, sovereignty, and hope.

The opportunity:

IEI is in the midst of developing a long-term strategy for engaging indigenous communities in the sacred journey to energy independence through transforming their existing fossil-fuel-based energy systems into clean, regenerative systems that promote economic, ecological, and spiritual health. This internship position will have the opportunity to advance this effort in a manner that is aligned with their unique skills and interests.  Potential topics include the roadmap for tribal utility formation, the valuation of Tribal Solar Energy Credits (T-RECS), or the development of a business plan for an indigenous-led energy services firm, focused on smart grid management.

The intern will report to the IEI’s Director of Strategy, Dr. David Riley.

Location:

This will be a remote internship with opportunities for on-site travel and interviews.
