CBEYond Research Spotlight: What to expect when you’re inspecting

As part of our Community Lunches, we will be holding “research spotlights” that CBEYond barriers and discuss critical topics at the intersection of business/society/environment. We want to connect our community to some of the thought-provoking and connected Yale research across F&ES and SOM.

In our next spotlight, we’ll welcome Saed Alizamir (Assistant Professor of Operations Management at Yale SOM) and Todd Cort (Lecturer in Sustainability at Yale SOM and F&ES; faculty co-director of CBEY) to discuss:

“What to expect when you’re inspecting”

In this event, we will focus on finding the connection between theory and practice.

Saed Alizamir will present his research from his paper “Competing to Discover Compliance Violations: Self-Inspections and Enforcement Policies” which examines the good and the bad that can arise from self-policing.

Todd Cort will then reflect on this paper thru the lens of his practical experiences with inspections as a consultant in sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Presentations will be followed by a guided discussion with the faculty and audience about the theoretical and practical implications of this research.
