John M. Norwood

John most enjoys working with cross-functional teams to manage and grow existing businesses, as well as conceptualize, validate, build, and launch new products and services. Curiosity in framing business problems and solutions, and attention to detail are hallmarks of his work. Since founding TBL Ventures, LLC in 2011, he has managed an array of client needs, such as:

- Advising companies on product development and market positioning 
- Leading product R&D, business development, and finance activities to spur market-leading innovation and 7-figure growth
- Directing due diligence, investment & asset/risk management for early-stage and publicly traded companies
- Optimizing portfolio growth while driving positive environmental and social impacts through “green” investments

In prior executive director, finance director, and other leadership roles, John led multimillion-dollar transactions that nearly doubled the size of a $100M, 3000-acre Silicon Valley-area land conservancy, strengthened the performance of a $10M endowment portfolio, and helped secure FERC relicensing of PG&E hydropower assets in the California Sierra.

Backed by Yale MBA and MEM (Master of Environmental Management) degrees, John is passionate about resource conservation, ESG practices, and renewable energy solutions. He is known for having an eye for assessing markets, evaluating management, and refining the vision for organizational growth and success.
