Master Class: Industrial Ecology and Competitive Advantage

How and when can environmental, energy, and other sustainability issues be translated into business model innovation and competitive advantage? Yale's faculty work at this intersection of business and society, and are addressing these issues and strategies.

Drawn from Marian Chertow’s Corporate Environmental Management & Strategy course, this Yale master class invites you to explore the business and policy logic for making the environment and sustainability a core element of corporate management and strategy.

In line with her research, Professor Chertow will discuss how the interdisciplinary field of Industrial Ecology is already providing multiple corporate benefits, ranging from cost savings and enhanced profits to resource availability, thereby gaining an advantageous position in an industry's evolving structure. She will focus on a cooperative business strategy for resource sharing, industrial symbiosis, and the economic, environmental and community benefits achieved.

Join us as Professor Chertow leads an interactive, case-based discussion, in partnership with the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, to an audience of Yale School of Management (SOM) and Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES) alumni as well as MBA and EMBA candidates.
