Brad Grams

Brad is the Regional Environmental Protection Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration's Great Lakes Region. Their main duties include serving as the senior environmental program specialist for the Region's airports, leading their climate, energy, environment, sustainability, and wildlife management initiatives; providing technical support and guidance to Airport District Offices; working with Headquarters and other agencies in developing policy and guidance leveraging field experience with airports, and being the point of contact for FAA headquarters and regional federal intra- and inter-agency personnel on airport and aviation environmental issues. Brad joined the FAA in 2023.

Prior to joining the FAA, Brad worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as their Acting Director of Planning, leading the Agency’s strategic planning and finance, enterprise risk management (ERM), and evidence and evaluation teams. During their 18-year tenure at EPA, Brad also held other management, team lead, and subject matter expert roles in environmental civil enforcement, permitting, clean-up, and programmatic, regulatory and fiduciary policy development, with a focus on pollution prevention, chemical and waste risk management, and climate and environmental justice. Prior to EPA, Brad was a Senior Research Assistant at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Lab, where they supported U.S. EPA and Department of Energy research on air pollution and its impacts to climate change.

Brad has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from The University of Chicago, and a Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPP/MPA) from Northwestern University with a specialization in global sustainability policy and standards-setting. They also hold a certificate in Executive Leadership in Sustainability from Harvard University, and a certificate in Financing and Deploying Clean Energy from Yale University, where they are also a Visiting Mentor on clean energy and sustainability in the public sector.
