Join us as we welcome Joel Tickner, Associate Professor of Environmental Health at UMass Lowell as he discusses the role of supply chain networks in shifting the marketplace toward safer chemicals and products.

There are increasing scientific, political and market concerns about the health impacts of toxic chemicals in everyday products. These concerns have led to a number of corporate initiatives on the part of chemical companies, consumer product companies and retailers to produce and source safer chemicals and products.  While important, these efforts have not yet caused a fundamental change in chemical production and use in products.  The Green Chemistry and Commerce Council (GC3), a cross sectoral network of 100 leading chemical manufacturers, brands, retailers, start-ups, and other organizations is working to shift both markets and innovation policy towards safer chemistry.  Over the past eleven years, the GC3 has undertaken a number of collaborative supply chain initiatives aimed at better understanding barriers to safer chemistry and developing model solutions that accelerate market activity in this important field to health, environment, and innovation.
