The 2024 YISF Annual Symposium, held at Yale School of Management on November 1, 2024, centered on “The Evolution of ESG Investing in an Increasingly Complex Financial System.” This event, supported by the Ida and Robert Gordon Family Foundation, Richmond Global LLC, and Yale’s Program on Social Enterprise, Innovation, and Impact, gathered experts, academics, and industry leaders to discuss the evolving landscape of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) finance.

The symposium opened with a welcome from Yale professors Dan Esty and Todd Cort, followed by a keynote session on “The Future of ESG” featuring influential figures such as Saker Nusseibeh, Karl Pettersen, and Tensie Whelan. Throughout the day, participants engaged in parallel paper sessions covering critical topics such as bonds, portfolio management, ESG regulations, corporate behavior, and the intersection of ESG with technology and AI.

Other highlights included sessions on ESG reporting rules, chaired by Todd Cort, and discussions on carbon accounting, sustainable investing, and market climate risk. The symposium concluded with a keynote speech by Bertrand Badré, a prominent figure in global finance, moderated by Dan Esty, further emphasizing the relevance and impact of sustainable finance practices on the global stage.

This annual event showcased cutting-edge research and insights on sustainable finance, offering a collaborative platform to explore how ESG integration can drive positive change in finance and beyond.
