Clean Energy Collaborative Ambassador

Role purpose: The Clean Energy Collaborative Ambassador will work alongside CBEY’s Clean Energy Coordinator to build community amongst students interested in clean energy across campus, engage with student energy clubs, strengthen awareness of the Collaborative’s work, and create networking resources for on campus and online learners. The role will account for approximately 5-10 hours of work a week, including weekly or bi-weekly check-ins with the Clean Energy Coordinator.

About the Yale Clean Energy Collaborative (the Collaborative): The Collaborative is an interdisciplinary umbrella organization for all Yale clean energy students, faculty, staff, alumni, and online program participants to engage together. The mission of the Collaborative is to put Yalies researching, studying, and working in clean energy in shared spaces to foster community, interactions, and partnerships. The Collaborative organizes cross-campus events such as the fall Yale Clean Energy Orientation and public events like the annual Yale Clean Energy Conference. There is an online networking platform with nearly 1000 Yalies sharing resources, opportunities, news, and stories. This year, the Collaborative seeks to foster a stronger community for students across campus interested in clean energy, improve access to career resources for students and online learners, and improve communications between student clubs. 

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Liaison between YSE, SOM, YC, YLS, and JA energy student groups (about 3-5hrs/week)
  • Facilitate one gathering per semester for leadership of these groups to get together and share goals/plans for the semester.
  • Attend the weekly or bi-weekly leadership meetings of each of these groups, take notes, and report back to Clean Energy Coordinator on plans and support needed.
  • Promote communication and resource sharing between these groups through platforms they prefer, such as email, Google Drive, or Dropbox. 
  • Cross-post campus wide energy events to Yale Connect and Campus Groups.
  • Attend clean energy related events across campus led by different groups with an eye to sharing about them.
  • Meet with stakeholders such as faculty, staff, students, and alumni to learn about their work and how the Collaborative can better serve them.
  1. Create networking and career resources (about 2-5 hours a week)
  • Find and post anywhere from 10-20 clean energy job/internship opportunities to the Collaborative Platform weekly.
  • Work with student clubs and campus career offices to maintain a living database of students with internships and alumni with jobs in clean energy.
  • Rejuvinate and update CBEY's Career Pathways in Clean Energy Guidebook by performing data analysis, sourcing global clean energy workforce trends, and interviewing/transcribing interviews with alumni.
  1. Assist with the Yale Clean Energy Conference (10 hours of work for Oct. and early Nov.)
  • Leading up to the annual Conference, assist Clean Energy Coordinator and Program Manager with final Conference preparations and tasks.
  • On the days of the Conference, volunteer at the Conference when you can and be a point person for fellow volunteers.

  • Enjoy connecting dots between people and bringing people together.
  • Seek to create accessible and helpful resources for institutional knowledge sharing.
  • Have practice with and an interest in event management.
