CBEY - Online Programs Summer Associate
The Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY) is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Research Associate to support the growth of CBEY's online programs: the Yale Financing and Deploying Clean Energy and the Yale Clean and Equitable Online certificate program. This role offers a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience designing and improving cutting-edge online curriculum and programming in clean energy and environmental leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
- Curriculum Design & Development
- Support the improvement of curriculum by reviewing and updating training modules, assignments, and readings to reflect the latest developments in clean energy policy, technology, finance, energy justice, clean energy development and innovation in all these areas.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to refine learning objectives and ensure alignment across course content and assessments.
- Assist in the integration of cross-cutting environmental topics throughout the curriculum.
- Program Improvement & Innovation
- Evaluate current course components and propose enhancements to improve learning outcomes, engagement, and accessibility.
- Help document and streamline internal processes for course management, delivery, and coordination with the teaching team (i.e., program staff, course instructors, and other student hires supporting these programs).
- Contribute to the design of program impact metrics and create tools for collecting and analyzing feedback from learners.
- Digital Learning Delivery
- Support the preparation and editing of short lecture videos, transcripts, and slide decks for use in online modules.
- Assist in uploading and structuring course content on program platforms, including Panopto and Canvas, ensuring clarity, visual appeal, and compliance with accessibility and teaching best practices.
- Test all learning platform elements (assignments, links, files, videos) to ensure a seamless learning experience.
- Faculty & Expert Engagement
- Coordinate with teaching faculty and guest experts to update content, refine delivery strategies, and incorporate new case studies or field insights into the program.
- Support video production logistics, including scheduling, editing comments, and preparation of teaching materials.
- Program Expansion & Strategic Support
- Research relevant trends and identify opportunities to expand curriculum to address emerging topics in clean energy, energy development and finance.
- Assist with the development of companion resources, including a Program Booklet, Online Programs Alumni Highlights, and marketing content for outreach.
- Cross-Program Collaboration
- Coordinate with the CBEY Online Programs team to identify synergies and ensure consistency across programs.
- Participate in strategic conversations about long-term program growth and innovation in online professional education.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- Current master’s degree student in environmental science, environmental management, clean energy, sustainability, or related field.
- 1–2 years of relevant work or academic experience in clean energy, curriculum design, or environmental justice.
Required Skills:
- Strong ability to grasp and synthesize both quantitative and qualitative clean energy concepts.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or developing graduate-level or professional curriculum.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to work effectively with teams including students, faculty, and practitioners.
- Strong project coordination skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Outstanding writing, editing, and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Experience working with learning management systems (Canvas preferred), video production support, or digital design tools is a plus.

Required Equipment
You will need your own computer (standard laptop or desktop with a webcam) and your own internet access with sufficient bandwidth to stream video lectures and handle Zoom videoconferencing for meetings.
