Blockchain for Supply Chain Workshop Series
This workshop explores the question "Can blockchain technology can be used as a tool to improve supply chain management?"

The Yale Center for Business and the Environment is excited to launch a half-semester workshop focused on blockchain applications. The goal of the workshop is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to assess how blockchain technology can be used in a specific field with important sustainability implications: supply chains. The course will bring together experts from the blockchain, food, and fashion industries to guide students in exploring the question of whether blockchain technology can be used as a tool to improve supply chain management.
Who can participate?
This series is open to all Yale students (professional, graduate, and Yale College), especially those who are seeking to build expertise in blockchain, supply chains, operations, and/or sustainable sourcing. The workshop will take place after Fall Break through the end of the semester and be capped at 30 students, selected through a competitive application process.
Topics
The workshop will consist of six 3-hour modules, equally dedicated to blockchain and supply chains topics, and seek to integrate knowledge from experts at leading food, fashion, and blockchain companies with robust background readings and lectures from Yale faculty.

Blockchain’s essential vocabulary & concepts. How blockchain works.

Blockchain use cases in supply chains. Ethereum and Hyperledger.

Blockchain and sustainability: design and ethics of technology.

IoT and blockchain integration - opportunities and issues.

dApps development on the blockchain supply chain software.
Supply chains:

What is modern supply chains management in the food and fashion industries? Actors and existing challenges.

Sustainable supply chains management: risks and opportunities. Blockchain use case.

Workshop Dates & Requirements
The workshop will take place over the course of 6 Fridays between October 26 - December 7, 2018. In addition to the three-hour class sessions, students will be encouraged to attend several affiliated events (e.g. speaker events, social gatherings, technical deep-dives). Expected weekly time commitment: 3-5 hours / week (class time, affiliated events, preparation).
