The Data for Impact 101 Intensive provides students with an opportunity to learn tools of the data analytics trade and apply them to gain insight and understanding of unique social or environmental challenges. This instructive, fast-paced intensive is suited for students that want to develop or refine data skills in Python and use data analytics to inform decision making in their career. Most of the intensive will focus on skill-building and the process and ethics of handling data and communicating results. This program consists of four weekly sessions.
This intensive is not designed to be a substitute for a statistics or computer science course. Instruction begins at a low level and is best suited for beginners in Python.

Format & Topics
This intensive is designed to be part instructive and part applied. Each session will combine workshops from a practitioners of data analytics for impact and instruction on specific programming skills for the topic of the class. Students will be given a datasets to practice on throughout the intensive.
- Workshop by practitioners on their work/research and experience using data tools for impact.
- Instruction on how to utilize specific tools within the Python programming language to accomplish data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and modeling.
Topics will include web-scraping, data cleaning & manipulation, data ethics, data visualization and communication, and basic modeling.
