Sustainable Venture Prize 2023

Roughly $175K in funding will be awarded through eight prizes, including the Sustainable Venture Prize.

The Sustainable Venture Prize has been awarded by the Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY) since 2008. It was created to support Yale’s most innovative ideas and businesses that advance a more sustainable way of life through a $25,000 cash prize.

Finalists will participate in a pitch competition on Friday, March 31st, from 9 - 11 AM at the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale (17 Prospect St, New Haven, CT 06511, USA).

The finalists for this year’s prize are:

  • Carbon Loop: Creates a circular economy by cheaply sequestering carbon at low temperatures from industry and produces high-value byproducts
  • General Biological: Makes mass-market chemicals from sugar instead of oil
  • Karuna Foods: We make the world's first microbial protein-based dog food with the least carbon footprint, offering nourishment without any adverse effects
  • Tyree Tech: Convert CO2 from major emitters to high-value, carbon-negative products using microalgal fixation, AI, and synthetic biology technologies
