William Lorenz

Bill Lorenz is the founder and Director of the Sustainable Engineering Graduate Program at Villanova University. He has more than 45 years of experience in the fields of environmental and sustainable engineering. He previously worked for the Sun Oil Company in Marcus Hook and Philadelphia, PA, first in the refineries and then at the corporate level. During his tenure with the company, he established new air, water, hazardous waste and audit programs that coincided with the development and implementation of the nation’s first set of federal legislation in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. In 1984, Lorenz cofounded Environmental Resources Management (ERM) and established the company’s management consulting practice. He helped ERM become a global consultancy with more than 5,000 employees and continues to advise the organization’s evolving global sustainability practice with major multinational corporations. Through his industry experience and connections, Lorenz helps to ensure that Villanova’s curriculum reflects and incorporates leading edge sustainable engineering concepts, practices and tools. Lorenz has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Villanova and an MS in Environmental Engineering and an MBA from Drexel University.
