Ryan Laemel

Ryan is a Manager at Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), where he supports the Urban Mobility Lab, a part of RMI’s India program. He also supports RMI's Cofounder and Chief Scientist, Amory Lovins, and the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) team at RMI with research, analysis, and collaboration. Ryan joined RMI in November 2016.

Previously, he led the design, implementation, and evaluation of the world’s first university-based internal carbon pricing program at Yale University. As a student at Yale, Ryan studied geology and geophysics, focusing his research on glacial erosion in the Patagonian Andes, and captained the men’s cross country team.

Ryan is interested in using market-based mechanisms and new business models to drive cleaner generation and the efficient use of energy. Creating new ideas, bringing people together, and crunching numbers that add up to something bigger are times when he's at his best. When he isn’t in the office, Ryan enjoys hiking, running, cycling, mountain biking, backcountry skiing, and climbing.
