Marc Gonzalez is a senior in Davenport College majoring in Environmental Studies, with a focus on energy justice and policy. Marc was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, but they committed to pursuing their energy focus within environmental studies after living in Houston, Texas and bearing witness to the inequities built into our current energy infrastructure.
Today, Marc is drawn to continued questions of energy justice throughout the United States and the territory of Puerto Rico. Their extended family in Puerto Rico continues to be affected by the energy and utility company crises that are affecting the island, especially in the more inland rural communities. This inspires current and future work in improving policy and access for all peoples.
Outside of their work, Marc is involved with various forms of student organizing, the environmentalists of color collective, and WYBC student radio. You can usually find them at a local coffee shop in hopes of finding the best iced vanilla latte in New Haven.
