Leonardo Doig Alba

Leonardo is a joint MEM/MBA candidate, passionate about applying business tools and frameworks – from finance to strategy – to strengthen conservation outcomes and the institutions working on them.

Leonardo began his career in marine conservation with the Punta San Juan Program, supporting data collection and analysis for the program's long-term monitoring of the coastal ecosystems in southern Peru. He also worked with the Lancet Countdown, conducting data analysis and research on how a changing climate affects health outcomes such as dengue and diarrheal disease. Leonardo then joined a startup NGO, Amanatari, developing sustainable biobusinesses with Indigenous communities in the Peruvian Amazon, where he helped establish the institution's groundwork and led the value chain for Amazonian stingless bee honey.

Leonardo is moving to New Haven from Peru with his wife and their small cat. He holds a BSc in biology from Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University. In his free time, Leonardo enjoys sports like basketball, tennis, and especially a Peruvian racquet sport called frontón, which he has competed in for the last 10 years.
