Kate is a joint degree candidate in the Master of Environmental Management (MEM) program at Yale School of the Environment, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Yale School of Management.  At Yale, Kate studies how Purpose-Driven Leadership (PDL) frameworks can improve teamwork within small organizations working toward missions related to ocean conservation.

Prior to her graduate education, Kate worked as the director of a non-profit organization on the Caribbean coast of Honduras called the Whale Shark and Oceanic Research Center. She managed whale shark and Caribbean coral reef research and developed a robust internship program while teaching scientific scuba diving and underwater research methodology. Kate facilitated local regulatory policy work by creating a series of interactive maps with GIS software to engage the island community with its marine protected areas and local environmental laws.

Kate also holds a master's degree from Scripps Institution of Oceanography in marine biodiversity and conservation, and received a bachelor’s degree in biology from UC Berkeley in 2015.
