John Weiss

As a Senior Director on the Ceres Company Network team, John Weiss helps guide Ceres’ direct engagement with large US companies, with a focus on companies in the electric power, oil and gas, automobile manufacturing and airline sectors. Through this engagement, the Company Network challenges these companies to develop and execute sustainable business strategies that include ambitious commitments to address key environmental and social impacts as well as strong governance and disclosure practices.

John came to Ceres after nearly 20 years as a consultant to clients in the public and private sectors. His consulting work addressed a broad range of environmental and energy-related issues, ranging from the costs and benefits of developing offshore fossil and renewable energy resources and the design of government initiatives to promote greater energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings, to the valuation of natural resource services harmed by oil spills and hazardous waste site contamination.

John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences from Brown University and a Master of Science degree in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also currently serves as a member of the UN Global Compact Network USA board of directors.
