Jessie Wainer is a graduate student of Yale School of the Environment pursuing a Masters in Environmental Science. She works with the Yale Center for Business and the Environment coordinating the Corporate Water Risk and Strategy Workshop for 2022.

Jessie completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 2019 and has worked investigating methods of extracting valuable minerals from waste materials, in particular gold tailings and coal fly ash.

She is now a researcher in the Center for Green Chemistry & Green Engineering at Yale, with a focus on sustainable water treatment. She is interested in how waste materials and by-products can be repurposed for valuable applications such as removing dangerous contaminants from water.
