Jamie Michael Kern
In his senior year of college, Jamie's undergraduate counselor assuaged his fears of a monotonous existence by affirming that people can now explore multiple different careers - even 5 or 6 - throughout their working years. Jamie now tallies 8. For about a decade, he has worked on clean energy engineering, policy, and project management. And since April Fools' Day 2021, he has been the energy policy officer for the Delegation of the European Union to the United States.
He applied for the Yale FDCE program while interviewing for his current job, knowing that the gap in his experience is also a gap faced by policymakers worldwide: how on earth (and on water) do we finance and deploy clean energy at scale? When he's not pondering this and other energy policy questions, he ponders getting back up mountains, on sailboats, into a good story, and around a lindy hop dance floor.
