Desirée  Lopes

Based at Yale University, Desirée is a Brazilian forest engineer and environmental manager with over a decade of experience on conservation and development in the tropics.

At ELTI, Desirée focuses on financial and strategic management, monitoring and evaluation and ELTI’s Brazil activities. Prior to ELTI, Desirée was the Brazil Country Manager of the Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she managed institutional and research partnerships, training activities and outreach to reduce inequality in Brazil. Desirée has worked with academia, research centers, governments and the private sector to promote economic development and environmental conservation by linking frontier knowledge with pressing needs in the tropics. She holds an MBA and a Masters of Environmental Management from Yale University, where she was a Moore Foundation Fellow, and a B.Sc. in Forest Engineering from University of Sao Paulo.
