Environmental Studies 2025
Charlotte Hawes

I am a Senior in Yale College, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and concentrating in Environmental Policy. I am completing an Interdisciplinary Certificate in Energy Studies and an Advanced Language Certificate in French alongside my major.

I have gained substantial experience at the intersection of climate, environment, technology, and business at Yale and over my summers. I wrote an extended research paper on the merits of mandatory climate risk reporting for public companies, and I spent a summer working as a Business Engagement Intern at the CDC Foundation, for which I created a toolkit for businesses to address climate-induced public health risks, such as air pollution and extreme heat, in their workplaces and the wider community. Most recently I interned at the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) in Washington D.C., where I provided support to clean hydrogen and long duration energy storage technology working groups. I assisted in developing policy recommendations at the federal and state level to accelerate development and deployment of these critical technologies.

Last year I worked as a coordinator for the Planetary Innovator Speaker Series, for which I helped create and run events highlighting environmental innovators in the technology and entrepreneurship spaces. I am so excited to continue working at CBEY this year as an Environmental Startup Funding Coordinator, and to help Yale community members gain access to crucial funding to help them move forward on their startup journeys.
