Arjun Malhotra

Arjun is a second year graduate student at Yale School of the Environment pursuing a Master’s of Environment Sciences. His main interests lie in food and water systems. He has previously worked in Development Economics research managing large scale field experiments testing the impact of economic incentives and interventions on social and environmental outcomes. Arjun has worked on development projects related to groundwater and power conservation, digital finance and agriculture, microfinance, and community health as well as conducted policy research on climate finance and food waste.

He is currently focusing on consequences of depletion of groundwater resources due to intensive agriculture, a common phenomenon across the developing world but is broadly interested in linkages between water security and human development. Going forward he is interested in working in international development focusing on water-food-energy nexus.
