Ani Backa

Ani is the Director of Regulatory Strategy and Utility Initiatives at sonnen, a global leader in residential battery storage, Virtual Power Plants, EV charging software and hardware technologies. She leads the strategy and implementation of large scale projects with utilities, munis, coops and CCAs around the US and Canada, and she is part of the sonnen global eServices organization.

Prior to joining sonnen, Ani managed business and government affairs and she rose to Assistant General Counsel for Xcel Energy. As an attorney specializing in renewable energy for one of the largest utilities in the United States, Ani’s experience combines in-depth understanding of market and technology applications in the residential arena as well as breakthrough technologies and successful platforms. Ani was one of the founders of the Clean Energy Partnership, the first public-private partnership between Xcel Energy, CenterPoint Energy and the City of Minneapolis, the first of its kind in the nation.
