Alexandra Jade Garcia
Master of Environmental Management
2026
Alexandra Jade is a second-year Master of Environmental Science student at the Yale School of the Environment, focusing on the intersection of reproductive and environmental justice. Her research examines the institutional capacities of community-based organizations and advocacy to address racial disparities in maternal health, as well as the environmental risks that shape experiences of motherhood.
Prior to Yale, Alexandra worked for two years as a research assistant at the Western States Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (WS PEHSU), one of the U.S. EPA’s nine designated regional centers supporting clinician networks in reproductive and children’s environmental health. In this role, her work encompassed facilitating strategic health communication initiatives and developing climate justice curricula for K–12 students across the Bay Area.
She earned her B.S. in Society & Environment from the University of California, Berkeley, where she spent much of her time coalition building and organizing with youth and BIPOC environmentalists. While pursuing projects that explored climate justice through media and art, Alexandra developed an enduring interest in climate communication—particularly the power of written and audio-visual media to amplify the stories of marginalized and underrepresented communities.
Outside of her academic work, Alexandra remains committed to community organizing and local maternal health programs in New Haven.
