In 2005, Vijay became the head of Unilever’s Project Shakti, a microenterprise initiative that empowers women in rural India through the sale of basic personal health products, like soap. He has since taken the lead on GSK Consumer Healthcare efforts across rural India. He is responsible for delivering business P&L and lead a cross functional team of Sales, Marketing, Analytics and New Business Development team. He also plays a key role in developing strategy to tap emerging markets across the globe for GSK CH. 
In this role, he has created a base of pyramid business model innovations that are also 'industry first' - some, like the approach for building community proposition for brands and mobile based communication ecosystem for media dark markets, have been appreciated across the world. He is also the Commercial Lead for the Global Emerging Markets Acceleration Team for GSK Consumer Healthcare, through which he works on democratizing power brands, rethinking GTM, developing new innovations and fostering meaningful partnerships to accelerate growth in emerging markets for GSK Consumer Healthcare.
