Introduction to the legal requirements and policy underpinnings of the basic U.S. environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and various statutes governing waste, food safety and toxic substances. This course examines and evaluates current approaches to pollution control and resource management as well as the “next generation” of regulatory strategies, including information economic incentives and other market mechanisms, voluntary emissions reductions and information disclosure requirements. Mechanisms for addressing environmental issues at the local, regional and global levels are also considered
