Closing the Loop

Join Lukas Hoex, former Circular Economy Lead at DSM and now marketing manager at DSM-Niaga, for a lunch discussion on how companies can create circular economy products and business models through innovation and collaborations across industries.

DSM-Niaga redesigns everyday products from scratch, to make them fully recyclable. Their design philosophy is focused on the radical simplification of materials used, and only connecting different materials in a reversible way. DSM-Niaga is a joint-venture between the start-up Niaga, and the Material & Life Science multinational DSM, which this year ranked 2nd in the Fortune change the world ranking

The first product they created together is carpet. After a total redesign of the material composition and the manufacturing process, DSM-Niaga now offers the technology to make carpets from only one material (polyester), fully recyclable back into carpet after use. When other fibers are used, DSM-Niaga deploys a reversible adhesive that de-bonds on-demand by exposing it to a specific frequency.
