Career Pathways: Sustainable Fashion with Briana Seferian (MBA '21)

Brie Seferian (MBA '21) works as Senior Manager, Circular and Sustainable Product at Macy’s and Lecturer, MS Sustainable Fashion at Glasgow Caledonian University. Brie has been in this role at Macy's for about a year, and is the first person to work on circularity and sustainable product at Macy’s, Inc.  She determines what a “sustainable product” is at Macy's and Bloomingdale's – what certifications to accept, what substantiation to require, and how to speak to those claims.  In addition, she is exploring circularity for Macy’s – recommerce, circular design, repair, takeback programs and textile-to-textile recycling.

Her background is in Design, and she holds an MBA in Sustainability from the Yale School of Management.  She also is a Lecturer for the MS in Sustainable Fashion program at Glasgow Caledonian NYC, teaching Sustainable Fashion Strategy.
