A Utility Perspective on Energy Efficiency

Gene Rodrigues, Director of SoCal Edison's Energy Efficiency Division, will discuss how one of the nation's largest electric utilities established itself as an industry leader by providing a number of innovative efficiency programs for its diverse customer base of over 14 million people across 180 cities. Gene will speak to the value proposition that energy efficiency provides, discuss California and U.S. policy frameworks and business models that encourage investment in energy efficiency, and discuss what needs to be done to continue large scale implementation of energy efficiency in all aspects of the economy. Gene will also speak to what finance and policy mechanisms SoCal Edison has found to be the most effective in increasing energy efficiency investment across residential and commercial properties.

The Yale Center for Business and the Environment is pleased to launch our fifth annual online webinar series. This year’s series will continue Blueprint for Efficiency, with an emphasis on the latest developments and opportunities for energy efficiency in the private sector. Through weekly presentations from leaders in the corporate, non-profit, and public-private arenas, we will explore a range of successful models that make the business case for energy efficiency.

This year’s series is a collaboration between the Yale Center for Business and the Environment and the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE). Founded in 1977, the Alliance is a large Washington, D.C. based nonprofit organization that works solely to promote energy efficiency worldwide through research, education and advocacy.
