A Conversation with Amarjeet Sohi, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities

Please join us as we welcome Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi, to Yale’s campus.

Amarjeet Sohi, Canada’s Minister
of Infrastructure and Communities

Through their Investing in Canada plan, the Government of Canada will invest more than $180 billion over 12 years in public transit projects, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, trade and transportation routes, and Canada's rural and northern communities.

As part of this plan, the Canada Infrastructure Bank is being created to help amplify federal support by bringing private sector and institutional investors to the table to help fund additional transformational infrastructure projects. From green energy transmission to trade and transportation and beyond, the Bank will help public dollars go further by investing in projects that are in the public interest and deliver a return1.

In this conversation with Minister Sohi and Professor Brad Gentry, we will learn more about the overall plan for the Canada Infrastructure Bank, best practices for countries considering tools such as infrastructure banks and the possibility for cross-national projects in the future.
