The individual application for the Spring 2025 cohort is closed. We will open the application for the Fall 2025 cohort in April.

Application Process

All of the information you need to prepare your application is on this page. You can find resources and an overview of our application process below.

Complete applications received prior to the application deadline are guaranteed to be considered by the Admissions Review Committee. 

Candidates who successfully completed an application online before the deadline, and who would have been accepted into the program if not for the cohort reaching its maximum size are placed on a waitlist. Candidates that have been placed on a waitlist are notified if a spot becomes available prior to the start of the program.

Incomplete applications will not be considered and will automatically be rejected. Don't risk it, apply early!

Before you apply, please review the curriculumtechnical requirements, and the program calendars above, to ensure you are able to complete the program and attend the required events.

Application Materials

All application materials must be submitted through the electronic application form (accessible above on this page once applications are open). Please do not email or mail any material to Yale, YSE Admissions, CBEY or YCEJ.   

Required Materials

  • Resume or CV,

  • Letter of recommendation from a professional or academic supervisor,

  • Short answers to the following essay questions,

    1. Please describe your personal, professional and/or academic experience and how this certificate from Yale will help you accomplish goals related to energy justice, climate change and/or the Just Energy Transition.

    2.  Describe your expectations and plans after finishing the CEED program. Do you have a specific project, initiative or proposal that you are working on or that you plan to be working on?

  • A copy of your TOEFL or IELTS test score report,  for participants whose (i) first language is not English and (ii) do not have an undergraduate or graduate degree from an institution where English is the official language, and (iii) have not worked in an organization where English is the primary language used for communication.

To apply for this program, you must submit all of the documents listed in the Application Readiness Checklist prior to the admissions deadline. The Applications Readiness Checklist also includes instructions on how to apply for our limited scholarships. 

There is no application fee, but your first tuition payment is required to secure a spot in the program should you be admitted.
