Sophia Luo

Sophia is an Energy Industry Analyst at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in 2009 with a bachelor of science in business administration, majoring in finance and international business. While in college, she also spent a wonderful year studying abroad at the London School of Economics.

Sophia began her professional career at Deloitte Consulting, where she worked as a project controller in the company’s federal practice. She then transitioned into the environmental field as a senior energy efficiency consultant for Navigant Consulting. At Navigant, Sophia analyzed the financial and operational impacts of federal energy efficiency regulations on manufacturers of appliances and commercial equipment covered by the Department of Energy. In the summer after her first year at Yale, Sophia interned at the private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). As an EDF Climate Corps fellow, she developed playbooks and financial analysis tools for portfolio companies in KKR’s Green Portfolio Program to provide guidance on best practices for energy management that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs across a variety of facilities.
