Plastic China: Film Screening & Discussion

What is the fate of plastics once we place them in our recycling bins?

Plastic China (2014, 26 min.) follows the plastics recycling chain that often ends in China. China is the world's largest importer and processor of plastic waste, much of which comes from the United States, Australia, Western Europe, South Korea and Japan. This film documents the water, air, and human health impacts of the plastics recycling process, and raises the question: How toxic is our plastic footprint?

Join us next week for a film screening and discussion with the director Wang Jiuliang and Professor Paul Anastas.
