Trained as an economist at Norwegian and international universities, Eirik Wærness has broad experience with research and management from government, academia and private sector companies. Currently, he is serving as Chief Economist in Statoil, one of the world's largest oil and gas companies and Scandinavia's largest company. In the period 2010-2013 Eirik was a Government-appointed member of the Executive Board of the Central Bank of Norway (Norges Bank). From 2014, Eirik is a member of World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on the Future of Oil & Gas.
