Join Panama Bartholomy, Deputy Director of Energy Efficiency for the California Energy Commission (CEC) for a presentation on how California is developing an innovative program to encourage whole building retrofits in residential and commercial buildings throughout the state. Energy Upgrade California™ is an unprecedented alliance among California counties, cities, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and the state's utilities.

Funding for this effort comes through a combination of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds, California utility ratepayer funds, and private contributions.

Panama Bartholomy is Deputy Director of the California Energy Commission. Until 2010, Panama served as an advisor for Karen Douglas, the Chairman at the California Energy Commission covering climate change, land use, renewable energy, transmission, green building, and biofuels policy. He serves on the City of Sacramento’s Planning Commission and the County of Sacramento’s Environmental Commission. He is a board member on and President of the Northern California Chapter of the United States Green Building Council and the Humboldt Bay Center for Sustainable Living. He previously worked for the California Conservation Corps on vocational environmental education and the Division of the State Architect where he ran the Sustainable Schools program. He is a graduate of Humboldt State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Restorative Development and a Masters of Science in Community Development from UC Davis.
